The Celotex sponsored polar bears

Polar bears are now classed as a ‘Threatened Species’ due to the Arctic sea ice forming less solidly and melting more quickly each year. Reports show the ice cap is reducing at a rate of 45,000km a year, which is having a devastating impact on arctic wildlife.

Under Threat

Of all the Arctic animals, the polar bear is being most severely affected. In areas where long-term research has been possible, polar bear populations are showing signs of stress due to shrinking sea ice. This stress is manifested both in shrinking population sizes with declines in cub survival rates, as well as a reduction in adult bears’ weights and skull sizes.

What can we do to help?

Effective thermal insulation such as Celotex reduces the demand for fossil fuels and emissions of CO2. This will help to slow the rate of climate change.

Operating within the construction sector and specialising in insulation products, we at Celotex are acutely aware of the energy efficiency and carbon emission impact of our industry and activity. While we continue to concentrate on our own activities and those of our trade partners, we have also sponsored a polar bear through the WWF.

Does our involvement make a difference?

Our sponsorship will help to protect the Arctic region’s rich biodiversity and maintain a healthy Arctic environment through (for example) supplying oil spill clean up kits to Arctic volunteers, as well as helping to raise awareness of the threats of climate change that we all face.

We cannot halt climate change on our own, but by supporting the WWF we are extending our commitment to environmentally aware and ethical behaviour.
